The MINI John Cooper Works WRC, developed by Prodrive based on the MINI Crossover, made a partial entry into the World Rally Championships (WRC) in 2011, with full participation planned for 2012. Prodrive have customized the vehicle with the roll cage, suspension and other specifications necessary to prepare it for the world's toughest rally stages, while the 1.6-liter 4-cylinder twin-scroll turbo charged engine, based on that used in the MINI Crossover, has been specially developed by BMW Motorsport in accordance with FIA Super 2000 regulations.
