Volvo FH 6x4 Tractor Globetrotter cab (fifth wheel load 25 ton) The Volvo Trucks FH, our flagship vehicle and a key mover in the global heavy-duty transport industry, is now being introduced to the Japanese market in a 6x4, fifth-wheel-equipped, 25-ton specification. It is fitted with an oil cooler and coupler specifically designed for heavy-duty applications.
It is equipped with the clean and powerful D13H engine, which has already cleared the new emissions regulations announced in 2009, a 14-speed manual transmission that provides optimal shift control, and a braking system with superior performance—all of which ensure superior environmental and operational performance. Naturally, as a Volvo Truck it provides a rugged cab with a spacious interior, providing world-class safety and comfort.

CO2 Neutral Factory Volvo Trucks has put in place environmental policies covering not only the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by its products, but at every stage of the production process as well. We’d like to introduce our work on creating a CO2-neutral factory.
Hybrid & Alternative Fuel Truck To even more actively reduce the CO2 emissions created by the transportation industry, we are pushing ahead in the development of hybrid trucks, or DME or liquid methane diesel alternative fuel technologies. We have on display the Volvo FE hybrid system, a model which was started selling in European markets in 2011. Volvo hybrid trucks use a parallel hybrid method, in which the diesel engine and electric motor may, depending on the driving conditions, operate together or separately. The energy generated by braking is also reused to the highest degree possible. These technologies provide both reduced fuel consumption and a 15- to 20-percent reduction in CO2 emissions.
Recycle Volvo Trucks takes into consideration the disassembly and recycling of end-of-life products as part of its planning and production process. Today it is possible to recycle or reused fully 90 percent of the materials used to produce a truck. If you take a look at our display you’ll see what at first glance seems to be a lump of iron, but in fact is a truck cab compressed and ready for recycling.
Advanced Safety Devices Ever since the founding of the company in 1927, safety has been a core concept for Volvo, and underlies all production development for the company. A good example is Volvo’s development of the three-point seatbelt in 1959, something which even today is responsible for saving countless lives around the globe. Here at the Motor Show we are demonstrating such advanced safety technologies as Lane Keeping Support, a system that senses when a vehicle moves out of its lane into a dangerous situation and provides a warning; Lane Change Support, which detects vehicles on the passenger and provides a warning if a vehicle is present during lane changes; the Driver Alert System, which monitors the driver and provides a warning if the driver becomes drowsy or is inattentive; and Alcohol Interlock, which prevents the possibility of driving while intoxicated.
